Lolo Willy – Lands Call Center Job After 12 Attempts

Lolo Willy, a grandpa from the Philippines, has earned praises online for his hard work and determination after 12 failed applications to land a call center job.

A 66-year-old senior citizen was Willy Batucan. Maria Therez Causing thought that the Work-From-Home desk setup he was buying is for his niece. The online seller was surprised to learn that the table is for him for his job and decided to post it on here social media account. Word of their transaction quickly spread across social media. It receives online acclaim.


“I was thinking it’s for his niece … sabi niya he’s working at a call center, tapos sabi niya 66 years old siya. Sabi ko, wow,” Therez said.

Unemployment has been a problem for many people, including Willy. Because of his perseverance in the face of 12 unsuccessful job applications, all the hardships have been paid off.

“Naka-12 na ’kong bagsak, 13 na lang. Kaya binilisan ko ’yung pag-apply. Salamat sa Diyos, yung ika-13, natanggap din ako sa wakas,” Willy said thankfully.

According to his officemate, Willy is passionate about his work and is currently working at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The BPO Company says that Lolo Willy is hardworking, and they have no regrets about hiring him. His coworkers were grateful for his work ethic and had nothing but high praise for him.

“Uncle Wil is a person that is passionate toward his work because for more than a year of pandemic he’s actually working at the office unlike us,” Valdehueza said.

Lolo Willy was hopeful that there would be more employment opportunities for people like him. He served as an inspiration to younger employees.
